Report on Slip Tests on Scaffold Couplers

Comparative tests were carried out between Blemkleen Refurbished couplers and New couplers. The tests were carried out at Lancaster University on 24th February 1993. Nine couplers were delivered for testing and the test procedure was generally in line with BS 1139 : section 2.1 : 1991 which is identical to European Standard EN74 : 1988. This standard identifies two classes of coupler - A and B. The tests were carried out according to the requirements for the highest class (class B) which is 50% stronger than class A.

The tests demonstrated that scaffold couplers refurbished in accordance with Blemkleen system, satisfy the requirements of the relevant British Standards.
